Gerard Pique Following Barcelona Win: 'The League Is On'

Feb 27, 2021 4:40 PM

Gerard Pique declared La Liga's title race back on following Barcelona's 2-0 win over Sevilla.

"The league is on, of course it is. Teams have come back from worse situations in the past and the team, despite those two games recently [against Paris Saint-Germain and Cadiz] have done well in 2021. We can be confident," said Pique.

Barcelona are currently second in the standings, down two points to Atletico Madrid (Atleti have two games in hand).

Ronald Koeman highlighted Barcelona's press for the result.

"Without the ball, we pressed, we tried to play one vs. one. We wanted to take advantage of [Ousmane] Dembele's pace and the first goal was an example of that. How we played without the ball was the key and, overall, it was a really complete performance."

Jurgen Klopp Concedes Title Following Leicester City Loss

Feb 13, 2021 7:19 PM

Jurgen Klopp conceded that Liverpool were out of the title race following a 3-1 loss to Leicester City.

“I cannot believe, but yes. I don’t think we can close the gap," said Klopp.

Liverpool currently sit 13 points behind the league leaders.

Klopp added that he didn't like how his side reacted to going down 2-1.

“We dominated Leicester, we scored a great goal but then conceded a strange one, which is offside. The 2-1 is a mistake but it had too big an impact. There was still time to go. We have to show a different reaction. When we conceded the second, in that manner, it was a knock and I didn’t like the reaction after that.

Pep Guardiola Says Ederson Could Take Penalty Kicks

Feb 7, 2021 10:28 PM

Pep Guardiola said that he would consider Ederson to take Manchester City's next penalty kick following Ilkay Gundogan's miss against Liverpool on Sunday.

City have missed three out of six penalties they have been awarded this season.

"It's a problem that we have. In important moments we cannot miss it, and it doesn't matter the taker.

"Again, I'm going to think about Ederson, he might be the taker next time," said Guardiola.

Ederson has claimed that he is the best penalty kick taker on the roster.
